One word. Covid. It has changed everything in a short space of time. From getting to meet up with friends and partying to utter isolation. This period has been indeed very challenging for us all. Covid has had a big impact on our lives. Another word that has had a big effect on our lives is motivation. It’s been almost impossible to find enjoyment in things during this lockdown. Struggling to pay attention in school due to the lack of motivation has been a challenge. We can barely get out of bed these days! Getting frustrated with the empty calendar. This is why Lily and I have found some ideas that will help with your mental, physical & emotional skills.
Exercise: This is definitely a scary word, but a little push is all that is needed to begin. Exercising has been proven to improve your memory and your focus. Even though it’s difficult to drag yourself from the couch (which we can definitely relate to! ) ,the benefits are definitely very rewarding. According to the British Heart Foundation, exercising regularly can lower your risk of heart diseases by 35% and generally the bit of the brain involved in memory and learning (the hippocampus) seems to get bigger. So why not try this life-changing today and see what happens!
Music: Music. Something we hear everyday. Whether it's on the way to school or at home in front of the mirror, it's constantly all around us. Using this time to widen our tastes musically can be very rewarding. From listening to lofi beats to trying out country music, it can be a lot of fun trying something out for the first time. Listening to music that is different can also raise your appreciation for music in general. Some of the artists we listen to right now are: Giveon, Khalid, H.E.R, Kane Brown, Blanco Brown, Aya Nakamura, Ali Gatie & Hillsong United. Most of these artists that are listed we found by trying something new.
Meditation Whether you are religious or not, this is a great way of calming yourself when you are stressed , bothered or annoyed. Many people meditate because it’s an easy and straightforward process. This can help us mentally, physically and emotionally. Meditation is a way of disconnecting with the world and entering into a different world and forgetting all the stress of the world. Many teenagers like myself and Naomi understand the stress of work and how it can take a toll on our mental health. That's why we put this blog together to help you all out.
